OUT DOOR SOCCER
This year Winakwa was fortunate to host 11 teams from the U9 to U18 age group, all thanks to the great volunteers that have given their time to Coaching.
Our coaches have worked very hard to make sure that all players develop, while at the same time make sure that they all have fun. I want to thank all our coaches for all their time and effort that they have put in to their teams. I also want to thank all the parents for taking these players to practices and games and who have come out supporting our teams in all sorts of weather.
Congratulations goes out to our U16 Boys team that won the Golden Boys Tournament in February, to Our U15 girls that came out second at the Boston Pizza Players Cup and to all others Winakwa teams for playing so hard and making our community proud.
Congratulations to all players and teams Go Winakwa Go
For the U9-U12 teams the season ended in June, for the U13 and up good luck in our playoffs in the fall.
Thank you again, hope to see everyone in the comforts of our indoor facilities
Once again we have our Indoor Soccer Season around the corner. This season starts in early October and wraps up in end of February. You can register your son/daughter in this great sport at Winakwa Fall Registration days in early September or online at Winakwa web site. This game is a much faster game with less stoppage in play, no off sides and player substitution on the fly. If your Son or Daughter enjoyed outdoor season, they will love indoor season. With fewer players on the field, they will have the opportunity to touch the ball much more and improve their game. Come outdoor season they are ready to go and thrive!!! Most games are played on the weekends - Girls on Saturday and Boys on Sunday. One game per week and most coaches run a practice or two a week. The cost (Approx. $400) is a little more than outdoor soccer because the games are played in indoor facilities and it is a longer season. It’s a great game to watch (No Rain!!!). The cost is still very affordable compared to other sports of the season.
Be sure to register on line and if you have some interest in coaching or helping out with a team please let us know.
Hope to see you at registration.

Co-Conveners U9-U18 soccer
Once again, we can say that this was another highly successful year - the weather cooperated and we were able to start the season on time with very few rain out days. The skies cleared just on time for the successful jamboree this year! The kids had a great time and we received lots of positive feedback from the coaches and parents.
Sending out a HUGE THANK YOU to all the volunteer coaches/assistants who helped this year. Without you this program would not be able to run.
We did however struggle with getting enough coaches to run our 20 teams. Next season will be similar, it is possible that your child may be placed on a team that doesn't have a coach. This is the reality of community sports - so if this unfortunate event occurs we will need a parent or a couple to step up and commit to the 8 weeks in order to ensure all kids get to play. To ease the process of making teams, during the registration process let us know that you are willing to coach or assist in coaching.
Thank you to Nicole Tetrault and Shannon Palahitski for everything they have done for the program in the past, words cannot express enough the appreciation of your time and efforts. They have set it up for successful program in the future. Your new Convener, Rachelle Bone will be looking after all soccer levels. Registration for the 2020 spring soccer season will be in March 2020! Have a wonderful summer and see you on the fields next season!
Have you ever wanted to help out coaching but don’t feel that you have the knowledge?? Coaches are what make our soccer program so successful. Without coaches, kids cannot have fun and enjoy this beautiful summer sport.
Here at Winakwa, we will again be setting up some spring coaching clinics that will help you feel confident in leading a group of children in their pursuit to be the next Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. So, let this not be your excuse in helping your child pursuit his dream, become your child’s hero by become a coach at Winakwa.
If you’re interested and you would like more information or are interested in making a difference in our community with your time volunteering, please contact Roger Moreira firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to supporting you and your team’s success at no cost to you!!!
We have swapped out 200 pairs of shoes so far. In order to continue our success, we ask if you have any soccer shoes (Indoor or Outdoor) that you would like to donated to please drop them off to myself (Roger Moreira) or the Club anytime between now and prior to our registration night. We will be having the Soccer Shoe Swap at our spring and fall registration night. If you want to swap a pair of shoes for another pair we will be asking for a $5 donation (U3 – U8) and $10 donation for (U9 – U18). These donations will be used to start a High School Scholarship Program for a deserving Student who shows leadership in their Community. Thanks in advance for helping us to make this a successful event.
