turn into a sport they continue play well into their adult life (also no rain to play in or

mosquitoes to swat!)

The age range for basketball is 7-18 year old boys and girls. Games are played on the

weekends (traditionally 12 and under play on Saturday and 13+ play on Sunday), with at

least one practice during the week (days/times are dependent on coaches schedules

and available gym times). Games are held in a variety of gyms in the city, community

centre’s and/or schools.

Fall/Winter league runs October through March, with 16 games + playoffs. Registration

begins in September and can be done online through the Winnipeg Minor Basketball

Association (WMBA) website If you have any specific requests, (eg.

Desire to play on a specific team or with a friend) please note it in the comments on

your registration and I will try my best to accommodate your request, unfortunately no

As the sport continues to grow and gain more interest, there is a dire need for

volunteers to coach, assist or manage teams. No experience necessary. With that said

I’d like to thank the new coaches that ran teams during the spring season, Riley

Strauman and Brody Sjodin – 10 Boys, Ashtyn Trudeau – 14 Boys, and returning

coaches Paul and Brandon McQueen – 16-18 Boys. We greatly appreciate your time

and effort!

If you have any questions, concerns or are interested in coaching, please feel free to

contact me directly.
