Where seniors can come and meet and have fun
The High Steppers Seniors Club provides an opportunity for social interaction in a safe environment for elderly persons who do not wish to, or are no longer able to function in more active social clubs.
An equally important benefit of our Club is the free time provided to the caregivers of a number of the Club members. Some of our Club attendees are of limited capability to the extent that spouses, children or others are required to provide round the clock supervision and care. Having the opportunity to leave their loved ones with the High Steppers Seniors Club for a few hours each week allows them to attend to other necessary tasks or to simply have a break from their constant responsibility.
The club operates each Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 am until 2:30 pm, providing snacks, coffee and tea at 10:00 am and 2:10 pm. We provide a fun day playing cards, shuffleboard, bocce, music, dominoes, friendship, conversation, coffee, tea, refreshments, and a light lunch.
At the High Steppers Seniors Club, a large group of dedicated volunteers supervised by the Club Manager carry out all of the tasks necessary for the operation of the club.
You can choose to come one day a week, or both days.
If you know anyone, family member, neighbor or friends that would like a day out, tell them about the High Steppers Seniors Club.
Your first visit is COMPLIMENTRY so you can see what the High Steppers Seniors Club is all about.

There was seen to be a need in our Windsor Park, St. Boniface community, Martha Treichel could see it, and was instrumental in forming the concept of our club in 1992. The dedication and perseverance of the early committee members and volunteers carried the organization through a disappointing slow start to our present viable and very popular organization.
A grant received from the federal government’s New Horizons Program in 1993 got the club off to a good start enabling the purchase of needed equipment and to grow from an initial one day program set up for six participants to our present two day program handling up to 12 participants each day.
After the New Horizons grant, the Club has been responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the program and any additions to it. Subsequent operating support has been received from the Winnipeg Foundation, the City of Winnipeg, the Manitoba Community Services Council Inc., the Thomas Sill Foundations and numerous individual donors.
The Prince of Peace Senior Social Centre Volunteers (POPSSCV) is a registered charity that supports the High Steppers Seniors Club, and is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors. The High Steppers Seniors Club has a manager to supervise the daily operation of the club.
